KNCV Nigeria TB Technical Advisors
The KNCV Nigeria TB Technical Advisors team includes a diverse range of experts with a wide range of expertise. These professionals include general TB advisors, highly specialized specialists, and program managers. Their work includes driving strategic TB/HIV planning, developing funding requests, and implementing innovative TB/HIV programs and interventions.
Dr. Mary Ann McLaughlin has spent most of her career working on TB, leprosy, and neglected tropical diseases. She started her career as a TB and leprosy control officer in Kaduna State before becoming the KNCV Country Director for Nigeria. She then moved to South Africa where she served as a Regional TB Advisor for the organization. She has spent more than 20 years in Africa and is particularly experienced in TB prevention and control.
The Laboratory Advisor will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance to the national TB program in Nigeria. They will work with the National Reference Laboratories and incorporated partners to improve laboratory systems and ensure accurate reporting of results. In addition, they will oversee the quality management activities of laboratories and participate in appropriate technical meetings.
The TB Advisor will support the KNCV TB LON Team and strengthen the TB surveillance system in Nigeria. They will also provide technical assistance and conduct in-country data analysis in each state they are assigned to. They will coordinate with key stakeholders in the country as well as technical partners to ensure the success of USAID-supported TB surveillance efforts.
KNCV has a long history of providing technical assistance and guidance to public health projects. The TB Technical Advisors team has experienced project managers that will be assigned based on their areas of expertise and geographical experience. Additionally, the experts in the KNCV team regularly attend and contribute to webinars and other KNCV trainings.
The TB Technical Advisors team is comprised of international experts with experience in public health programs. Dr Ramya Ananthakrishnan, for example, has 20 years of experience with public health programs and a postgraduate Masters degree in Community Medicine. She has previously worked in the National Institute for Research on Tuberculosis and has taught in various colleges. She has also been involved in several projects, including a Global Fund Round 9 project.
TB Team members analyze and interpret national TB surveillance data and participate in USAID consultations. They also participate in the development of best practice models for TB surveillance. This team provides technical support to the KNCV TB LON and the other LON projects. They support the TB LON Project Coordinator and the State TB team, and work with strategic service package providers.
